YMCA North Tyneside would like to erect solar panels on the roof of our headquarters base in North Shields. As a sustainable charity we create supportive, inclusive and energising communities, where people can truly belong, contribute and thrive. As part of this aim, we are conscious of our impact on the worls around us and would like to identify ways to reduce our carbon footprint. By installing the solar panels, we will directly make a difference, but we also aim to increase awareness of the difference that people can make by installing an information panel in our reception area that displays the amount of energy generated by the solar panels and the kilograms of carbon saved as a result.
Anyone that lives in or spends time in North Shields will realise that bright sunny days are very much the exception, rather than the rule. You may be thinking that solar panels are about as much use as an inflatable dartboard. Well, you'd be wrong. The latest photo voltaic panels convert light into energy, rather than sunshine, so even the thickest, darkest rainiest day North Shields can throw at us will result in some electricity being produced. And just as I write, a break in the clouds and the sun beats down. A beautiful September day in North Shields, that someday, soon, will help towards a sustainable future for YMCA North Tyneside and make a difference to the world around us.
We would love you to get involved with our project. Please vote for us. It costs nothing. Or, if you'd like to help financially, you can contribute towards this Crowdfunding appeal, for which, in return, we can offer fantastic offers against our products and services.
