We want to fit special lights that provide daylight conditions throughout the year for the benefit of our autistic riders
Tyne & Wear RDA Lighting up lives

We are raising funds to purchase a specialised LED lighting system which will provide daylight conditions throughout the year to benefit our autistic riders, it does not generate heat which eliminates dust and benefitds our riders who suffer with asthma and other respitory conditions.  Currently we have huge sodium lights which use a lot of energy, the LED lighting will vastly reduce our energy consumption for the benefit of the Centre and all who use it.

We have carefully researched the lighting by a specialist company. Other LED providers are not able to provide this type of specialised lighting which eliminates shadows, reduces dust, and provides natural daylight conditions throughout the year. We have been able to secure 50% of the required funding on the basis that it is match funded.

Of our disabled riders, 90% suffer with ASD, the natural light provided by LED will ensure daylight conditions throughout the year. Lights do not get hot, reducing the dust levels which benefit riders with asthma Conserve energy and maintenance.

There are no objections to this project. It is viewed positively. It will benefit the long term sustainability of the Centre.

Improved lighting would attract those who need natural light and suffer with dust related conditions, increasing our client base, the savings would help us to keep lesson costs down encouraging more to take part.
