The Lady says, 'PLEASE VOTE FOR POLRUAN VILLAGE HALL'
POLRUAN THEATRE CLUB SUMMER PRODUCTION 2017
Polruan Village Hall is over 100 years old. It was opened in 1912 as a local Constitution Hall and in 1980 was bought for the residents of Polruan for use as their Village Hall. The Hall, with its magnificent views across the Fowey Estuary, provides a great meeting facility for local organisations and individuals, - ranging from Polruan Junior School, Polruan Theatre Club, Kids and Youth Clubs, Coffee Mornings, Cream Teas, and Antique and Vintage Fairs to Family Parties and Wedding Receptions, however the building was in urgent need of a comprehensive refurbishment.
Over the past 3 years the internal walls and roof have been fully insulated. The Hall floor has been refurbished, sanded and polished. We have installed a disabled toilet and a new ASHP heating system. Our electrical system has been upgraded and we have installed dimmable lighting. The approach path to the Hall has been renewed to provide good disabled access and contracts are in place for the replacement of all external doors and windows this September. As a result of our improvements to date the Hall is now registered by Cornwall Council as a Local Emergency Evacuation Centre. The costs of alll these improvements have been generated purely from savings, donations and grant funding.
Our Hall Improvement Programme is virtually complete, with the exception of the long term capability of providing reasonable energy costs for all our User Groups. This application to the M & S Energy Fund aims to satisfy that capability and we are asking, please, for public support by your voting for our project.
All that remains to be achieved is the provision of a 6 kWh Solar P.V. Generation System. The primary benefits of the installation of this system will be to dramatically reduce the cost of electricity for all Hall Users, allowing them to maximise their use of the facilities. The reduction in energy costs will allow full use of the heating and air conditioning system, encouraging wider use of the Hall, especially during the Winter months. The reduction in energy costs will achieve a CO2 saving estimated at 3,055 kg CO2 annually.
We have an diverse Community. Although we have a good number of young families, more than 50% of residents are aged 50 or over. By reducing energy costs, the heating and air conditioning system, allied with the improved insulation, can be used more extensively by local groups, providing them a comfortable environment to meet and enjoy themselves in for many years to come.
PLEASE VOTE TO SUPPORT OUR APPLICATION AND PLEASE ASK ALL YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, NEIGHBOURS AND WORK COLLEAGUES TO DO THE SAME. THANK YOU.
